ACR - American College of Rheumatology
The American College of Rheumatology (ACR) is an organization of and for physicians, health professionals, and scientists that advances rheumatology through programs of education, research, advocacy and practice support that foster excellence in the care of people with arthritis and rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases.
In contrast to EULAR and other Regional Leagues, the ACR allows membership of individuals
(rheumatologists, health professionals, etc.) rather than societies or leagues only.
ACR/EULAR Exchange ProgrammeEULAR and the Research and Education Foundation of the ACR offer an academic exchange programme for young academic rheumatologists in a two-year alteration. In one year, three junior and one more senior academic rheumatologist from Europe will travel to the US, the following year three junior and one more senior academic rheumatologist from the US will travel to Europe.
The programme is funded by the ACR and EULAR. The programme usually includes attendance at the EULAR Annual Congress or the ACR National Meeting respectively as well as an itinerary for visiting academic centres relevant to their interests.
Academic rheumatologists who are interested in participating in this exchange programme are invited to forward an application with a curriculum, a description of research work and a list of recent publications to the EULAR Secretariat.
The next exchange opportunity for rheumatologists from Europe will be in 2008.
