Standing Committee of People with Arthritis/Rheumatism in Europe
12 October 2009: World Arthritis Day

The World Arthritis Day is a global awareness raising day. It takes place every year on 12 October. EULAR traditionally uses WAD to present new and innovative approaches facilitating the life of people with rheumatic conditions in Europe. The World Arthritis Day will in the future increasingly become an opportunity to meet around events organised by EULAR.

This year's theme is "Let's Work Together", which is again reinforced by a survey on the WAD website. This theme considers the challenges of work, be it paid employment, voluntary work or work at home supporting a family, and embraces people with rheumatic diseases, healthcare professionals and employers.

If you are looking for help regarding work, check out our "Let's Work together" support material, which will be available from June. Support material in English can be downloaded from this site individually, or as an information pack. Translated versions will be available later in the year. Our support material is helpful for different user groups:

1. Young people who are just starting out in the world of work
2. People who were in work when they were diagnosed
3. People re-entering the work place after rehabilitation
