Communication & Communities Manager (100%) Kilchberg – Zurich​


The European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR) is the organisation which

represents the people with arthritis/rheumatism, health professionals, and scientific societies

of rheumatology of all the European nations. EULAR is a non-profit scientific and educational

association recognised by Swiss law.


EULAR is looking for an experienced Communication & Communities Manager to lead and

oversee all official EULAR communications, media relations, and community engagement

activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing

strategic communication plans, managing EULAR's digital presence and media relations,

ensuring consistent branding and messaging, and fostering effective engagement with

EULAR Communities. This role reports directly to the Executive Director.


In particular, the role includes the following tasks:

Your tasks:

  • Develop and implement EULAR’s strategic communication plans.
  • Manage all external communication channels, including EULAR website, newsletters, social media accounts, press releases, etc.
  • Ensure consistent branding, tone of voice, and messaging across all communications.
  • Oversee the production of high-quality content (visuals, videos, infographics, etc.) in close alignment with internal departments and external suppliers.
  • Manage media relations and coordinate the press conference during the annual EULAR Congress.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of the Opening Session of the EULAR
  • Congress, ensuring its smooth delivery and alignment with EULAR’s vision and messaging.
  • Lead the management and coordination of EULAR Communities.
  • Prepare regular reports on communication and community activities for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with EULAR leadership to ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Manage a small team.


Your profile:

  • Master or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Scientific background would be an asset, but not mandatory.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position, ideally gained in a comparable association.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, ideally with experience in an international environment.
  • Proficient in common communication management and design tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. German language is a plus.
  • Sense of ethics, responsibility, and confidentiality.
  • Availability to travel internationally.
  • Interest in working with diverse people from different cultures.
