The EULAR Campaigns

EULAR hosts campaigns to help achieve its goal in the area of Advocacy: to increase participation in work by people with RMDs by the year 2023.

World Arthritis Day 2023: 'Living with an RMD at all stages of life'

World Arthritis Day 2023 aims to build upon last year’s campaign about rheumatology being an invisible specialisation of medicine. To provide more insight, EULAR's WAD 2023 campaign is focused on highlighting the lifetime journey of a person with an RMD, from being a child and paediatric patient to living with the disease as an adult, including its impact on all aspects of life, like growing-up, working, caring for others, or ageing. It will also highlight the role rheumatologists (both paediatric and adult) and diverse healthcare professionals in rheumatology (HPR) play in lifelong treatment.

World Arthritis Day 2022: What is your #RheumaPainPoint?

EULAR's WAD 2022 campaign is focused on understanding the issues the diverse audiences have in the field of rheumatology, such as a shrinking medical workforce, long waiting times for appointments, or lacking understanding of RMDs among governmental decision-makers. Better understanding these 'pain points' will allow us to better address them both at a national and international level, which is EULAR's key goal.

Don't Delay, Connect Today: Time2Research

The campaign focuses in motivating higher numbers of people living with Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases (RMDs) to undergo training to become a PRP and to then take part in the research process. As a result, research will prosper and the new and developing trend toward a highly patient-centric approach to drug discovery and the related legislative and regulatory environment to support this process is enabled.

Don't Delay, Connect Today: Time2Work

In 2019, the Don't Delay, Connect Today campaign was given a sub-theme focused on work and RMDs with the strap-line, “Time2Work” with the objective to help people with RMDs access work for the first time, remain in work when they develop an RMD, or return to work after rehabilitation, and to promote the adoption of other initiatives that not only help people with RMDs, but all workers.

Don’t Delay, Connect Today

In 2017, EULAR launched the Europe-wide campaign entitled ‘Don’t Delay, Connect Today’ with the goal to highlight rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs) as major diseases and a public health concern of pandemic proportions and that early diagnosis and timely access to treatment can prevent further damage and burden on the individual and society.

The campaign journey: Early diagnosis, access to care, access to work, access to research

EULAR Campaign started in 2017 with the purpose of raising awareness around early diagnosis, access to care and the positive impact that this can have on the many millions who are diagnosed and undiagnosed with an RMD in Europe, especially regarding their ability to have a professional life and access to the workforce – and right to remain in work.

The importance of the patient voice is recognized in 2021 as essential to staying up to date with the current legislative push in policy circles to place the patient at the heart of research, most notably the Pharmaceutical Strategy.

The ability to enable the patient voice to take centre stage in the research process will enable better outcomes in drug discovery, enabling more people living with an RMD to have access to work, and ultimately inspiring more people to be aware of possible symptoms that they may live with and to therefore seek medical advice for possible diagnosis – and access to timely and adequate care.
