EULAR Individual Membership Terms and Conditions


1. EULAR Individual Membership

Your rights and obligations as EULAR Individual Member are set out in the Statutes of the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology(hereinafter "EULAR") and, when you apply for a EULAR Individual Membership or renew it, you accept to be bound by the Statutes.

If you wish to participate to the General Assembly, you must be a EULAR Individual Member before the Board convenes the General Assembly in accordance with article 4.2.4 of the Statutes.

2. Membership Account

To become a EULAR Individual Member, you must hold a membership account.

You can open your membership account by filling in the form on the EULAR website. You will be asked to enter your email-address, which will be your username, and a password. You must keep your password confidential and secure. You may not allow any third party to use your membership account.

EULAR may disable your membership account if EULAR is of the view that it is misused.

3. Application and Renewal Process

3.1 Online Application and Renewal

You can apply for the EULAR Individual Membership or renew it through your membership account.

3.2 Requirement of Membership of a National Society

If you are or could be a member of a National Society listed below this paragraph, you must provide us with a confirmation of such National Society's active membership to be eligible to become or remain a EULAR Individual Member. You will have to upload the confirmation in your membership account; until then your application or renewal will be put on hold. EULAR may, at any time, review the confirmation and request further details from you or from the National Society.

4. Membership Fee

4.1 Membership Fees

The membership fee for each level are published on the EULAR website.

4.2 Payment of the Membership Fee

During the application or renewal process, you will be asked to pay the membership fee with your credit card. Your payment will be processed through the secured gateway Saferpay to which EULAR has no access. When paying via Saferpay, your payment data will be processed by Worldline Switzerland AG, Hardturmstrasse 201, 8021 Zurich, Switzerland as part of the payment process. Further information on data protection can be found on their website at www.six-payment-services.com.

5. Confirmation of your EULAR Individual Membership and Withdrawal

5.1 Admission Confirmation

Upon receipt of the payment of the membership fee, you are automatically a EULAR Individual Member. EULAR will inform you thereof by sending you a confirmation email.

5.2 Right of Withdrawal

You have the right to withdraw from your Membership without giving any reason within 14 days from the receipt of the confirmation of your Membership. You lose your right of withdrawal if you use your Member benefits (Section 6) before the expiry of your right of withdrawal.

To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform EULAR thereof by sending an email or a letter to EULAR (members@eular.org; EULAR Office, Seestrasse 240, 8802 Kilchberg, Switzerland). To meet the deadline, it is sufficient that you send us your communication that you withdraw of your membership before the 14 days period has expired.

If you withdraw your membership, EULAR will reimburse to you all payment received from you in this connection. EULAR will make the reimbursement without undue delay and not later than 14 days after EULAR was informed about your decision to withdraw your membership. The reimbursement will occur by the same means of payment as was used to pay the membership fees.

6. Membership Benefits

The benefits by level of the EULAR Individual Members will be published on the EULAR website. The benefits may be subject to the acceptance of further terms and conditions.

EULAR reserves the right to modify the benefits for each or all levels, taking effect at the beginning of a calendar year, by publishing the new benefits on the EULAR website. EULAR will publish the new benefits at the latest three months in advance.

7. Disclaimer of Warranty and Liability

7.1 No Warranty for Information and availability

EULAR does not warrant the completeness, accuracy and actuality of the information received in connection with the EULAR Individual Membership, in particular the medical information.

EULAR does not warrant any availability, in particular not the availability of any electronic platform or application, of the newsletter of a course or of any information thereon, nor that the transmission or content will be error free.

EULAR does not provide any therapeutic recommendations and cannot replace the independent and complete analysis, evaluation, diagnosis, risk assessment, treatment or other medical activities by a medical specialist.

7.2 Exclusion of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, EULAR excludes any liability for any damages, loss, injury, or liability whatsoever suffered out of or in connection with the EULAR Individual Membership.

8. Feedback and Complaints

EULAR aims to provide the highest quality of services to you and values your feedback (positive and negative) and your comments. You can address your feedback and comments to members@eular.org.

EULAR usually addresses complaints within one working week after receipt. If EULAR needs more time to evaluate your complaint, it will inform you of the reasons for the delay within one week.

9. Data privacy

By applying or renewing your membership, you understand that EULAR processes your personal data that you have provided during application and renewal process for the purpose of granting you your rights and obligations out of your EULAR Individual Membership (art. 6 sec. 1 lit. b GDPR). You will also receive information about EULAR, in particular its congresses, courses, symposia and newsletters (art. 6 sec. 1 lit. a GDPR).

If you are or could be a member of a National Society mentioned on the EULAR website (see Section 3.2), we will share your personal data with the National Society upon its request. We will do so to comply with our Statutes (art. 2.2.2 of the Statutes; art. 6 sec. 1 lit. c GDPR). The National Society processes these data as a controller.

In case the level chosen contains an online access to the ARD journal, we will share your personal data with BMJ Publishing Group Limited, London, UK, for the purpose of distributing the ARD journal (art. 6 sec. 1 lit. b GDPR) and for marketing purposes (art. 6 sec. 1 lit. a GDPR). BMJ Publishing Group Limited processes these data as a controller.

Besides the usual IT- or other providers necessary to run a business, EULAR will also share your personal data with the following subcontractors:

If you are no longer EULAR Individual Member for five years, we will delete your personal data automatically, except for the data we must keep for bookkeeping purposes.

10. Applicable law and place of jurisdiction

The substantive laws of Switzerland are applicable, with the exclusion of the conflict of law rules. The exclusive place of jurisdiction is at the seat of EULAR, currently Kilchberg, Switzerland.
