EULAR Congress Committee

The Committee supports EULAR's aims to reduce the impact of rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs) on the individual and society and to improve the social position and the quality of life of people with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases in Europe. 

In furtherance of these aims, the Committee focuses on the organisation and guidance of the EULAR Congress, in particular: 

  • Developing a high-quality programme;  
  • guiding the scientific abstract management process: 
  • guiding the overall organisation and set up of the EULAR Congress; 
  • having balanced content, speakers and representation. 
  • The Committee does not pursue gainful or self-help purposes.

EULAR Project Proposals

All EULAR project proposals are to be submitted by 15 January or 01 July of each year and is subject to the approval of the EULAR Council. The final decision and budget of a project will be determined by the EULAR Council each March and September.

EULAR European Congress of Rheumatology

Since its introduction in 2000, the EULAR European Congress of Rheumatology has become the primary platform for exchange of scientific and clinical information in Europe. It is also a renowned forum for interaction between medical doctors, scientists, people with arthritis / rheumatism, health professionals and representatives of the pharmaceutical industry worldwide. The EULAR congress is usually held in June in one of the major cities in Europe.

EULAR Governance

EULAR is governed by an elected board composed by 4 experts in rheumatology and one representative of each pillar (organisations representing other health professionals in rheumatology, patient organisations and scientific societies). Our activities are overseen by 5 content committees and 4 representation committees whose activities are delivered by several hundred expert rheumatology volunteers.
